External Affairs Minister slammed Kejriwal on Singapore variant, said, 'this is an irresponsible attitude'

New Delhi: The Foreign Ministry has hit back at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for spreading fear in the name of 'Singapore Variant' saying delhi CM does not speak for India. On Tuesday (May 18, 2021), Kejriwal had claimed that the new corona strain found in Singapore was extremely deadly for children. So, the Government of India should cancel all flights to Singapore to prevent it from coming to India.

 

 

An official spokesperson of the External Affairs Ministry said that the Singapore government had called the High Commission to strongly object to the Kejriwal government's statement. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also had to take to Twitter to clarify the matter due to Kejriwal's wrong statement. In a tweet, the Indian External Affairs Minister appreciated the strong ties between Singapore and India and supplyof oxygen in the Covid era.

 

 

In the next tweet, he wrote, "However, this is an irresponsible attitude, even those who should know that this could damage the long-standing partnership. So, I want to make it clear that the CM of Delhi does not speak for India". Earlier, the Singapore Health Ministry had denied Arvind Kejriwal's claims. Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan had advised Kejriwal to speak on the basis of facts and said there is nothing like a Singapore strain.
