New Delhi: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar's mother Sulochana Subrahmanyam died on Saturday. Jaishankar gave this information through a tweet. With which the foreign minister also shared a photo of his mother on Twitter.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said in his tweet, "Deeply grieved to inform of the passing away today of my mother Sulochana Subrahmanyam. We ask her friends and well-wishers to keep her in their thoughts. Our family is especially grateful to all those who supported her during her illness."

According to the information, her son Jaishankar, S. Vijay Kumar and Sanjay Subrahmanyam are in the family. S. Vijay Kumar is a former IAS employee, Sanjay Subrahmanyam is a noted India historian and Dr. Jaishankar is the External Affairs Minister of India. According to PTI, many other leaders including Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, BJP leader Ram Madhav, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant have expressed grief over the death of Jaishankar's mother. Jayashankar's father Subrahmanyam was a noted strategic expert and also the father of India's nuclear doctrine. It is known that the father of External Affairs Minister Jaishankar died in February 2011.
