New Delhi: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has flagged off the first batch of the sacred Kailash Mansarovar Yatra on Tuesday. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar posted a picture with a batch of pilgrims from his Twitter account. He Tweeted,  "the first batch of 58 passengers have been flagged off for the Kailash Mansarovar yatra.  Wishing pilgrims a safe and spiritually prosperous journey, it is beyond that you can imagine '

It may be recalled that while announcing the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra today, Foreign Minister Jaishankar said the pilgrimage is an "ego step" towards promoting people-to-peoples exchanges and strengthening the friendship and understanding between India and China. At a function at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan in Delhi, he also shared his personal experience of the vision of this sacred site when he was stationed in China.

Announcing the commencement of the Yatra by Lipulekh Marg, Jaishankar has said that interest in this pilgrimage has grown exponentially in the last few years. The pilgrimage began in the year 1981. At the same time, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also shared a photograph of his Kailash Mansarovar yatra in 2012.
