Foreign prisoner health deteriorate in jail, dies during treatment

Mathura: A foreign prisoner imprisoned in Mathura district jail has died due to a deteriorating  health condition. According to information, a 26-year-old Nigerian youth named Kumbhwas was detained under Section 420 and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act for nearly a year.  A day earlier, he suddenly deteriorated, after which he was admitted to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

In the case of the death of a foreign prisoner, the jail superintendent informed that he had been in jail in Mathura for about 1 year. He died during treatment due to sudden worsening condition. The deceased Kumba was imprisoned by Kotwali police on September 30, 2018.  Kumba was arrested under the 14 Foreigners Act Passport Act. Later, a warrant against Kumba came from 420,467, 468, 471 and the IT Act. Thus the two were imprisoned in Kumba prison in Warrant.

The foreign prisoner detained in Mathura district jail was brought to the district hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during the supervision of doctors, the CMS of the district hospital, Dr. R.S. Maurya, informed. The official said the information has been given to the Embassy. Further legal action is being taken.
