The Maharashtra government released the data of deaths of Covid-19 patients since March, as per the guidelines of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the World Health Organization (WHO). According to the new figures, the number of deaths in the state suddenly showed a big increase of1,328. Describing it as a major failure of the Mumbai Metropolitan Municipality and the state government, former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has demanded a high-level investigation of the entire case and action against the culprits.

According to Fadnavis, the ICMR and WHO have clearly stated which death will be of Covid category, which is not. Despite this, the Maharashtra government set a committee and set different guidelines. By analyzing the deaths, this committee is working to hide deaths instead of reducing them. According to Fadnavis, 500 deaths in the month of May and 150 in the month of June have not been shown yet. Whereas according to the rule, they should have been analyzed on the Covid portal in seven days. Significantly, in the growing corona infection in the country, Maharashtra has reported the highest number of corona cases.

Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said that states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra have tied up with the private sector in an effort to provide proper health care to the patients of Covid-19. In view of the possibility of lack of health care infrastructure, the Ministry of Health on Monday with the private sector to increase the availability of beds and critical care health facilities from the States and Union Territories and to ensure fair and transparent charges for these services.
