Guwahati: Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will be cremated on November 26 at the Navagraha cremation site of the city. State Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has given information in this regard. The first cremation of Assam's first CM (then called premier) Gopinath Bardoloi was cremated at this crematorium and a part of his memorial has been erected here.
Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, "As per the wishes of the family and the Assam Congress, Tarun Gogoi will be cremated at the Navagraha crematorium ghat". Many people including leaders paid tribute to their veteran Congress leader and Assam's longest CM, Tarun Gogoi.
Tarun Gogoi died in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Monday. He was 86 years old. Gogoi's body was taken from GMCH to his official residence, State Civil Secretariat Janata Bhavan and Assam Congress headquarters Rajiv Bhavan on Tuesday. His body was kept in the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra for the people to pay their last respects.
