New Delhi: In view of former Team India captain Virat Kohli's poor form, the demand to drop him from the team is intensifying. After World Cup-winning Indian captain Kapil Dev, now former bowler Venkatesh Prasad has also expressed his opinion on this issue. He has also raised questions about the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the current management. He said "If a player is not in form, they (BCCI) don't drop him, but rest him. Venkatesh has cited the example of former players and said how he was earlier dropped from the team due to poor form.''

Without naming Virat Kohli, Venkatesh Prasad tweeted one after the other, "There was a time when you were not in form, you were thrown out regardless of your reputation. All the players like Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh were dropped for not being in form. They then played domestic cricket, scored runs and returned to the Indian team again.'' Prasad further said, "Now things have changed a lot, where players who are out of form are given 'rest'. There is so much talent in the country, so you can't just play on your reputation. One of team India's greatest match-winners, Anil Kumble, had to sit out on several occasions. Action is needed to achieve something big.''

Let us know that Virat Kohli has not been able to score a century for almost three years and has failed to play big innings in any format. Virat Kohli scored his last century in the Kolkata Test match against Bangladesh in November 2019. Even after that, he is getting opportunities again and again. Earlier, former captain, Kapil Dev had objected to Kohli not being dropped from the team, saying that when Ravichandran Ashwin can be dropped from the final XI of the Test, why not Virat Kohli? Kapil Dev said that dropping Kohli from the team is not a big issue. He had said that if the new players do not get a lot of opportunities, it will be unfair to them. If Kohli doesn't perform, new players can't be left out of the team.
