Barabanki: Two-time sasand, three-time MLA and UP cabinet minister Kamala Prasad Rawat passed away on Friday. He had been ill for a long time. The death of former MP Kamala Prasad Rawat has sent shock waves through the district. Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former CM Akhilesh Yadav along with other party leaders have also expressed grief.

Kamala Prasad Rawat was born on July 6, 1954. He lived in Muzaffarpur village under Thana Jehangirabad area of Barabanki. Rawat's wife Dharmi Rawat has also been MLA. His son Ved Rawat and daughter-in-law have also contested the election of zilla panchayat member on SP ticket. Kamala Prasad Rawat he first became an MP from the Congress party in 1984. This was followed by another BSP ticket to Parliament in 2004. Kamala Prasad Rawat was also MLA thrice. He later took over the sp. Kamala Prasad Rawat was also the Minister of State for Homoeopathic Department in the BSP government.

The death of the former MP has sent shock waves through the district. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav along with other party leaders have also expressed grief. Several leaders including former Congress MP PL Punia, former cabinet minister Arvind Singh Gope, former minister Rakesh Verma have expressed grief.
