New Delhi: Former PM Manmohan Singh will not attend the formal inauguration ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor in Pakistan. But he will join the first batch of pilgrims along with Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh and go to Kartarpur Sahib. However, he will also return the same day. The sources said this on Sunday after Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi's claim that the former PM accepted the invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the Kartarpur Corridor on 9 November.

Pakistan Foreign Minister said in Multan on Saturday that Manmohan Singh has accepted his invitation, but he will not attend the ceremony as a special guest but as a common man. The former Prime Minister has also written to Shah informing him about his decision. Pakistan PM Imran Khan wrote in his Facebook post on Sunday, 'Pakistan is ready to open its doors to Sikhs around the world, as construction work in Kartarpur project is in final stages and open to common people on November 9, 2019 Will go. PM Modi will inaugurate the corridor on 8 November at Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had on October 3 ruled out the possibility of going to Pakistan for the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor.
