Hyderabad: The political climate in the erstwhile Karimnagar district is heating up with interesting twists and turns taking place on a daily basis. On Monday, former TDP Telangana president and former Minister L Ramana formally joined the TRS in presence of party working president and Minister KT Rama Rao at Telangana Bhavan here, while P Kaushik Reddy, considered a potential Congress candidate for the Huzurabad bypoll, resigned from the Grand Old Party stating that he wanted to be a part of Telangana’s development.
Since the exit of Eatela Rajender, who joined the BJP after he was dropped from the State Cabinet, the district has been a hotbed of political activity with village-level elected representatives to district leaders declaring their unwavering allegiance to the ruling TRS. The opposition parties are in disarray following the rapid-fire developments taking place in the district, particularly Huzurabad constituency. Both Ramana and Kaushik Reddy cited the changing political matrix in the State and their desire to be part of the development process as the reasons for their leaving TDP and Congress, respectively.
In a parting shot, a stinging one at that, Kaushik Reddy alleged that A Revanth Reddy had bribed his way to the post of TPCC president. “There are several other leaders who have been loyal to Congress and deserved to be rewarded with the State party president’s post. Even after a fortnight of his appointment, Revanth Reddy has not even appointed an in-charge for Huzurabad constituency while TRS and BJP have their leaders in place and are working aggressively in the constituency,” he said, adding that former TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy was a far better choice than Revanth Reddy.
