Lucknow:The debate on the issue has started in various states following the new population policy introduced by the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh. In Uttar Pradesh's neighbouring state of Bihar, there is now a demand to implement a facility like two-child policy. Panchayati Raj Minister in the Bihar government Samrat Chaudhary has demanded that those who have more than two children should not be allowed to contest panchayat elections.

Minister Chaudhary says the facility should also be applicable to village bodies on the lines of municipal bodies. They have demanded that a law should be enacted on this. However, he also said that it is not possible to do so in this panchayat elections. Recently, when the new policy was introduced in UP, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was also questioned on the issue. Nitish Kumar had then called for emphasis on educating women instead of enacting a law on the issue.

On the other hand, Deputy CM in bihar government Renu Devi has stated that there is a need to make men aware on the issue of population control. Janata Dal United leader KC Tyagi also spoke on the issue. K.C. Tyagi said that we are in favour of population control, but this should be done not by enacting a law but by conducting awareness campaigns.
