Four leaders from Jammu and Kashmir released, 370 were in custody since being removed ...

Srinagar: Four leaders in Jammu and Kashmir have been released from the house arrest. His name is National Conference (NC) leader Abdul Majeed Larami, Ghulam Nabi Bhatt, Dr. Mohammad Shafi and Mohammad Yusuf Bhatt. They were placed under house arrest after the removal of Article 370 of the Constitution on 5 August 2019. Earlier on January 17, the Jammu and Kashmir administration had released four former MLAs, including a former minister, as part of the process of releasing the leaders kept in custody.

The released leaders included Haji Abdul Rashid, Nazir Ahmad Gureji, Mohammad Abbas Wani and former minister Abdul Haq Khan. Earlier, five leaders were released from house arrest, including NC leaders Altaf Kalu, Shaukat Ganai and Salman Sagar, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders Nizamuddin Bhatt and Mukhtar Bandh. Salman Sagar has been the Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation. It is being told that with the release of these leaders, there are 17 leaders still in custody in the Kashmir Valley, including former CM Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.

Let us tell you that these leaders have been kept under detention since the removal of Article 370. On August 5, 2019, Modi government removed Section 370 and abolished the status of special state of Jammu and Kashmir. With this, Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union Territories i.e. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
