Kolkata: A major incident took place during the Janmashtami celebrations in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. A stampede took place at the Loknath temple during the celebrations of Sri Krishna Janmashtva. It killed 4 people. At the same time, 27 others were injured. The stampede took place after the temple's boundary wall fell on devotees. In fact, in the morning, people stood under the cover of the same boundary wall to avoid the rain.

The injured have been admitted to Baisrahat Hospital, National Medical College and SSKM Hospital for treatment. On the other hand, the family members of the injured said that the district administration had been negligent about the arrangements in the temple. After the incident, the state CM Mamata Banerjee visited two hospitals and visited the injured. He said, it is very sad. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

Taking cognizance of the incident, CM Mamata Banerjee has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those killed. It has also announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to those seriously injured. It is said to pay 50-50 thousand rupees to those who are moderately injured.
