BENGALURU: Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister K. Sudhakar warned on Monday that the country's fourth Covid outbreak is expected in August.
During the Zero Hour, he responded to a query from BJP MLC Shashil Namoshi by saying that masks will be required in indoor facilities. Following a meeting with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, a decision will be made in this regard. According to him, the new sub variant of coronavirus B.A.2 initially appeared in the Philippines. It eventually spread to 40 countries.
The same agency that anticipated the arrival of the third wave has predicted the coming of the fourth wave. The fourth wave was expected to impact the country by the end of August, according to the agency.
The minister emphasised that even if the fourth wave appears, people need not be alarmed because a successful immunisation campaign has been done in the state.
He went on to say that 10.25 crore immunisation doses have been administered throughout the state.
"Booster dosages were administered. Furthermore, parents would be persuaded to vaccinate their children over the age of 12 years " he added. Covid is prevented by vaccination. People, on the other hand, must take measures.
No serious impact even if new wave of Corona arrives in India, experts claim
