French climber died after plummeting from a mountain in New Zealand

Wellington, In a tragic incident, a climber has died after falling from a mountain in New Zealand. Police identified him as French national Victor Roucher.

According to the police, " 25-year-old plunged to his death on Mount Taranaki in the North Island yesterday with a companion".

Roucher, who had been in New Zealand for six months, was near the summit of the 2,518-metre peak when he fell, said police.

Taranaki area commander Inspector Keith Borrel said, that it appeared Roucher had lost his footing in icy conditions on the dormant volcano.
