France: The French government announced new travel restrictions that will take effect from Saturday. According to sources, the government has issued a new scarlet-colored list that includes eleven southern African countries, in addition to France's green-orange-red categorization system for countries based on their coronavirus epidemic status.
According to the Interior Ministry, countries on the scarlet list have a particularly active virus circulation and/or the discovery of a variant that may provide a danger of greater transmissibility. French citizens are "strongly advised" against travelling to nations on the "scarlet" and "red" lists, according to the government, unless they have "compelling grounds" to do so. All arrivals from countries on the "green," "orange," and "red" lists must show proof of a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) or antigen test issued at least 48 hours prior to travel.
Travelers to and from "scarlet" countries and the United Kingdom must show proof of a negative PCR or antigen test done 24 hours before to departure. Upon arrival, they will also be exposed to a coronavirus test. Those who test positive are required to quarantine at hotels provided by the French government.
