WASHINGTON: The upcoming G20 summit offers India a "'great opportunity'" to highlight a number of its strengths and show leadership in relation to a number of difficulties the world is now facing, Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has said.

Goyal is in the United States on an official visit. Together with US Trade Representative Katherine Tai, he co-chaired  a meeting of the India-US Trade Policy Forum on Wednesday.

"India will have a really exciting chance at the G-20 to show leadership in addressing many of the concerns facing the world. It is going to be a tremendous opportunity for us to exhibit the numerous capabilities of India," he told reporters at a news conference in Washington on January 11, 2023.

On December 1, India formally took over as G20 President. On September 9 and 10, the next G20 Leaders' Summit at the level of Heads of State/Government will take place in New Delhi.

The greatest difficulties that may be overcome by working together include terrorism, climate change, and the pandemic, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who stated that India will seek to further promote oneness, motivated by the idea of "One Earth, One Family, One Future."

An intergovernmental meeting of the world's leading developed and emerging economies is known as the G20 or Group of 20. It conprises Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union. Together, they comprise two-thirds of the world's population, 75% of international trade, and more than 80% of the world's GNP.

Goyal, Prime Minsiter Narndra Modi is regarded as one of the "tallest leaders" in the world and is a proponent of taking action and finding solutions. If you recall, the PM released his own dissertation on convenient action since he is a guy who believes in action after (former US Vice President) Al Gore had released the inconvenient facts. He has always been someone who has trusted in finding solutions, he said

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar described India's G20 Presidency as a "very major deal" and stated that India intended to use its presidency for the benefit of the entire community.

We are going to make sure that the diversity of every region, every culture, every local cuisine, and local products will be on display to the world."

Sspeaking with members of the Indian Diaspora in Vienna this month, EAM Jaishankar said,  "We are going to make sure that the diversity of every culture, every region, every local cuisine, and local products will be on display to the world." "In a sense, I would say you can think of it as a marketing of India to the world,” he said.
