To improve the UN Security Council, the G4 countries India, Brazil, Germany and Japan insisted on taking concrete steps and implementing immediate reforms. The four nations, insisting on increasing the scope of the Security Council, said that the aim of the Intergovernmental Dialogue (IGN) process is to create a new system and not just keep arguing endlessly.

According to media reports, Indian Permanent Representative Syed Akbaruddin, speaking on behalf of the G4 during the IGN at the United Nations, said that the growing impatience in most member countries can be seen clearly to prompt reforms in the UNSC system. In such a situation, we hope that this exercise will clearly direct its efforts.

Regarding this matter, he said, along with the spirit of increasing the number of permanent and temporary members of the Security Council on behalf of most members will be taken forward. To implement any new reform, it is necessary that we stop doing the old works that we want to change. The claim of permanent seat of India in UNSC has got the support of Portugal. On Friday, Portugal's President Marcello Rebelo de Susa issued a joint statement with President of India Ramnath Kovind. In this, he gave his support to India's permanent claim to UNSC and said that India is important for balance of power in the world. The President thanked him for this. It is known that the President of Portugal is on a four-day visit to India.
