In the year 1945, during World War II, America attacked Hiroshima and Nagasaki with atomic bombs. After this both these cities were badly destroyed. After suffering the destruction, Japan started working against the proliferation of nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, in the year 1974, Indira Gandhi's government did the first nuclear test. India's nuclear tests had a direct impact on relations with Japan. Many western countries had turned against India. Back in the year 1998, when Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government conducted nuclear tests, Japan imposed economic sanctions on India. Because of this no Prime Minister of India could visit Hiroshima.
