NEW DELHI: Amid the elevated focus on the significance of seat-belts and airbags in cars, Nitin Gadkari , the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, shared a video featuring Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar highlighting the importance of 6 airbags in cars.
Underscoring the need for six airbags in the car, the video depicts Akshay Kumar detailing the significance of airbags in the car.
While a person giving farewell to his daughter after marriage in a car says that the car is equipped with all modern amenities including sun-roof and a sophisticated music system, Akshay Kumar, playing the role of a policeman, mentions that the car has only two airbags. Video also shows about the safety features of having six airbags in cars.
"Thank You Akshay Kumar for your support to the nationwide National Road Safety Campaign. Your endeavors in spreading awareness on road safety parameters is worth commendable. We are committed to bring down road accidents in India with awareness and public participation," wrote the Minister on Twitter.
Three videos describing the significance of road safety have been released by the Minister's Twitter handle. On several occasions, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has talked about the importance of six airbags in cars. Of late, Gadkari mentioned that the ministry is working towards making six airbags mandatory in all cars.
"The same manufacturers put six airbags when they export those cars. Then why do you put only four airbags in Indian cars? Don't our lives have any values? An airbag costs only Rs900 and when the number increases, the cost will only come down," the minister commented recently.
Gadkari has also made it clear that seat belts will be made mandatory for the occupants in the rear seat in cars.
