Born on 3 October 1967, in Mehroli village of Sikar, Shankar Singh Shekhawat, father of Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, retired as a senior officer in the Department of Water. After schooling, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat became active in politics.
Shekhawat, a MA in Philosophy from Jayanarayan Vyas University, Jodhpur, contested for the post of President on the ticket of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in 1992 and won by a huge margin. This is where Gajendra Singh Shekhawat became connected and close to the Sangh Parivar. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat adopted social service after his student life and worked in Swadeshi Jagran Manch and Seema Jan Kalyan Samiti. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he contested from Jodhpur Parliamentary seat on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket and defeated Congress candidate Chandresh Kumar by 401051 votes.
Seeing his popularity among the farmers, he was made the National General Secretary of the Kisan Morcha. Through his simple lifestyle, Shekhawat has created a different place in the hearts of people. He has 55600 followers on Quora, a blogging website, including former US President Barack Obama. Shekhawat has an equal presence in the sports world as well, he is currently a member of the All India Sports Council and the President of the Basketball India Players Association.
