Garud commandos are called by the name of India's most dreaded commandos. These commandos of the Indian Air Force, equipped with dangerous weapons, are also recognized for eliminating the enemy. Their training is such that they can fight for weeks without eating anything. Through this article, we will tell you how their training is done and what is their work. In today's time, maximum deployment of Garud commandos is done in Jammu and Kashmir. Because now the army in the valley is intensifying its joint action with the Air Force commandos. The biggest cooperation in this is of Garuda commandos. They are also trained to undertake airborne operations, airfield seizures and counter terrorism. Garun commandos have also been seen operating in counter insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir. In times of peace, one of their main responsibilities is to protect the airfields of the Air Force.

Hence the need for Garud commandos: The Indian Air Force needed this special force when terrorists attacked two airbases in Jammu and Kashmir in 2001. After this this special force was formed. The training of Garud commandos is started on the lines of MARCOS of Navy and Para Commandos of Army. They are trained to undertake airborne operations, airfield seizures and counter terrorism. In times of peace, one of their main responsibilities is to protect the airfields of the Air Force.

Three weeks of rigorous training: Let us tell that the training of these commandos is also provided with the Special Frontier Force, Indian Army and National Security Guards. Those who are successful in this phase go for the next round of training. The soldiers who succeed in this very strict training are sent to the Parachute Training School in Agra. Where like Marcos and Para commandos, Garun commandos also put para badges on their chest. Garud commandos are also provided training at the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) in Mizoram. This institute of the Indian Forces is a training institute specializing in unconventional warfare. In this institute, not only Garuda commandos, but soldiers of armies from all over the world come to take training in counter-insurgency operations.
