New Delhi: The country is celebrating National Sports Day on 29th August on the birthday of hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand. On this occasion, Gautam Gambhir, former cricketer of Team India and Lok Sabha MP from BJP, has demanded the award of Bharat Ratna to Major Dhyanchand. Along with this, Gambhir has praised Dhyanchand, saying that a player bigger than these has neither been born nor will be ahead.
Lok Sabha MP from BJP, Gautam Gambhir has said that, "In India's history, a player bigger than Major Dhyanchand has neither been born nor will ever be in future. He has brought so many gold medals for the country and in the era when the game It was not so popular. I would like Major Dhyanchand to be given the Bharat Ratna at the earliest. It will make the whole country very happy. " Let me tell you that due to the great game of Major Dhyanchand, he is called the wizard of hockey.
Major Dhyanchand won three Olympic gold medals in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936. The story of this player's success does not end here. Dhyanchand has scored more than 400 goals in his career. The Government of India has awarded Dhyanchand the Padma Bhushan, the country's third highest civilian honor, in 1956. Therefore, his birthday i.e. 29 August is celebrated as National Sports Day in India.
