New Delhi: Gautam Navlakha, imprisoned in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist relationship case, has gotten a big relief from the Supreme Court. The apex court on Thursday (November 10) allowed Gautam Navlakha's request for house arrest, saying there was no prima facie reason to reject his medical report. At the same time, the court also said that he will not talk to the people and witnesses related to the case. However, Gautam Navlakha's partner Sahba Hussain has been allowed to live together.

A bench of Justices KM Joseph and Hrishikesh Roy said that the house arrest order should be implemented within 48 hours. At the same time, the court also directed Navlakha to deposit an estimated amount of Rs 2.4 lakh, which the National Investigation Agency (NIA) claimed to be spent on providing police personnel. Along with this, the court also said in its order that Gautam Navlakha will not be allowed to use computers and the internet during the month-long house arrest. The 70-year-old activist is imprisoned in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist link case.

The apex court has ordered the detention of Gautam Navlakha in Navi Mumbai for one month by taking him out of Taloja jail. In its order, the court has also imposed many conditions. In its order, the court has said that no communication device of any kind, i.e., laptop, mobile, computer, etc., will be available during the detention. During this time he will not indulge in any illegal activity. Nor will he talk to the media. Allowed to meet two family members for two hours in a week while under house arrest. Not only this, he will not be able to talk to the people and witnesses associated with the case. However, Navlakha's partner Sahba Hussain will be able to stay with him.
