New Delhi: The ongoing confrontation between the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of the country's capital Delhi VK Saxena and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is increasing instead of stopping. The Arvind Kejriwal-led government has now filed a complaint against the LG with the apex court. The complaint, alleging interference in the functioning of the LG, said that he was instigating the bureaucrats against the elected government. In the affidavit given in the apex court on Wednesday, the Arvind Kejriwal government has said that the LG has derailed the government in the capital.
The affidavit further states that the LG is running a parallel system in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi by giving himself the powers of the elected government. Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has filed two separate affidavits before the Constitutional Bench in the Center vs Delhi government battle. Sisodia has alleged that the LG is constantly trying to capture the powers of the Delhi government. However, so far no response has been given by the LG office in this matter.
In this regard, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has given an affidavit in two separate cases. The first case pertains to the ongoing tussle between the Center and the Delhi government and the central government over control over the bureaucrats. Whereas the second case is related to the administration of Delhi in the hands of the LG. A provision has been made in the Delhi Government of National Capital Territory (Amendment) Act, 2021 that the government has to take the opinion of the LG on some important decisions taken by the cabinet of the Delhi government.
