Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party (SP) has declared the name of the candidate for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha by-election. Dimple Yadav, wife of party chief and former CM Akhilesh Yadav and former MP, will contest from this seat. This seat fell vacant after the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Let us tell you that the Yadav family has occupied the Mainpuri seat for several decades. Dimple Yadav will now handle the political legacy of SP founder, Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Let us tell you that SP has increased activism regarding the by-elections. The party is stepping into the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat. Till now, former MP Tej Pratap Yadav was being seen as a candidate, but many veteran leaders of the party were in favour of giving a ticket to former MP Dimple Yadav. He said that Akhilesh Yadav is not contesting from Mulayam Singh Yadav's seat. In such a situation, Dimple Yadav should be fielded, this will directly connect with the voters due to her being in the election fray.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's two-day stay in Etawah, Saifai and Mainpuri is also being linked to the preparations for the by-elections. On the other hand, the decision of the court is still awaited on Rampur's seat. At the same time, the Khatauli assembly seat has been given by the SP to its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). SP President Akhilesh Yadav has confirmed this by tweeting. He said that the bypolls would be fought in alliance with the Samajwadi Party and the Rashtriya Lok Dal. SP candidate in Mainpuri and Rampur, RLD candidate will contest in Khatauli.
