Israeli forces have intensified their attacks on southern Gaza, resulting in casualties, including the deaths of four children in Rafah. The United Nations Security Council is poised to vote on a resolution demanding an immediate cessation of Israel's deadly assaults on Gaza, after a prior draft was vetoed by Russia and China.

Efforts by the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to broker a ceasefire proved fruitless, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected calls to halt plans for a ground invasion in Rafah, where over 1.5 million Palestinians are seeking refuge.

In response to the escalating crisis, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is scheduled to visit Rafah on Saturday to advocate for an urgent humanitarian truce.

Since October 7, Israeli attacks on Gaza have claimed over 32,000 Palestinian lives and left 74,298 injured. Meanwhile, Hamas's assault on Israel has resulted in 1,139 fatalities and numerous captives.
