Germany:  A massive explosion rocked Germany's western city of Leverkusen on Tuesday which caused Five people gone missing and several injured, and also sending up plumes of smoke and prompting police to ask nearby residents to remain in their homes.

As per reports, the explosion happened at 9.40 a.m. local time, causing a fire at a fuel depot at Chempark, an industrial park for chemicals companies including Bayer and Lanxess, Chempark operator said. A lot of employees were hurt, with at least two seriously injured, and five people were missing, the operator said, adding it was not yet clear what caused the explosion and the subsequent fire. Sirens and emergency alerts on the German civil protection agency's mobile phone app warned citizens of "extreme danger".

The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) has warned the public to close their windows and to stay inside in the wake of dangerous gasses leaking from the plant.  The BBK's warning app, Nina, urged people in the district of Burrig to go inside and close all doors and windows.
