BERLIN: Germany's power supply is secure, despite the country's nuclear phase-out, according to Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck. Source quoted, the operational licences for Germany's final three nuclear power reactors will expire at the end of this year, and the units will be permanently shut down. The shutdowns are expected to take place by the end of 2022 at the earliest.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWi) stated, "Our will complete another crucial stage of the nuclear phase-out agreed in 2011 and greatly boost nuclear safety in this country." "In Germany, supply security is still guaranteed," Habeck noted.

Following the Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel imposed a nuclear ban, which included a safety review of all nuclear power reactors. As a result, Germany has accelerated its nuclear energy phase-out. According to BMWi, this has had no impact on the power supply's reliability, which "has risen in recent years and is quite high by worldwide standards."

Meanwhile, Habeck emphasised the importance of "It is critical to move our energy supply revolution ahead in a systematic manner. A reliable supply of sustainably generated electricity is essential for aligning our economy and industry with climate neutrality and, as a result, creating long-term prosperity”
