Do you remember the famous 'Sadhana Haircut'? It was once a highly popular hairstyle. Girls were crazy about the Sadhana haircut, which became famous thanks to the late legendary actress Sadhana Shivdasani. Though the actress is no longer with us, her iconic Sadhana-cut hairstyle remains popular even today. Today's generation might call this style fringe or bangs, but for our parents and us, it was the classy Sadhana Haircut. But do you know the story behind actress Sadhana's signature hairstyle?

Sadhana was a famous actress in the 1960s and 1970s. She made her mark in films like "Ek Musafir Ek Hasina," "Asli-Naqli," and "Mere Mehboob." However, it was her look that turned her into a style icon. During that era, actresses often had long hair or big buns, but Sadhana was the first Indian actress to appear with fringes, captivating everyone with her hairstyle.

Born on September 2, 1941, in Karachi, Sadhana Shivdasani and her family moved to Bombay during the India-Pakistan partition when she was just seven years old. Sadhana's father was the elder brother of actor Hari Shivdasani (actress Babita's father). Hence, Sadhana was the cousin of Babita and the aunt of Karisma and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Sadhana's childhood was quite challenging, but she was always inclined toward cinema. Nutan was Sadhana's inspiration, and she was a huge fan of Dev Anand. When Sadhana was 13, she got the chance to share the screen with Raj Kapoor. As a teenager, she worked as an extra in the chorus group and danced with Raj Kapoor in the song "Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh Mud Mud Ke" from the movie "Shree 420" (1955).

When Sadhana was 15, filmmakers noticed her in a college play and contacted her. They cast her in India's first Sindhi film, "Abana" (1958), and reportedly paid her just one rupee for the film.

During the promotion of "Abana," producer Sashadhar Mukherjee noticed her. He offered Sadhana a role in the film "Love in Simla" (1960) opposite his son Joy Mukherjee. "Love in Simla" was a box office success. With her very first film, Sadhana won the hearts of the audience. In the 1960s, she delivered several major blockbusters, including "Hum Dono," "Asli-Naqli," "Mere Mehboob," "Woh Kaun Thi," "Mera Saaya," "Waqt," and "Anita."

However, it was in the 1970s that Sadhana's look became a hit, famously known as the Sadhana Haircut. Girls were in a frenzy to get the Sadhana Haircut during that time. Parlors were bustling with girls wanting to replicate her hairstyle. The story behind Sadhana's famous haircut is quite interesting.

Sadhana was very beautiful and fair, but she had a broad forehead. The filmmakers tried various ways to cover her forehead.

Many hairstyles were tried, but none seemed right. Eventually, her hair was cut from the front to cover her forehead.

It's worth mentioning that Sadhana's haircut was inspired by the famous Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn.

Though Sadhana was initially upset about cutting her hair, the look suited her perfectly and became known as the iconic Sadhana Haircut. However, many people do not know that this haircut was suggested by her husband and film director, R.K. Nayyar.
