Panaji: Talks have been going on to nominate late Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar for the Bharat Ratna next year, the country's highest civilian award, according to top sources from the CMO of Goa Government. The idea is the brainchild of the current Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant, if his close aides are to be believed. While an official decision is yet to be made, informal talks have already begun. The source from CMO adds "He was Goa's tallest leader, not just contributing to Goa but also the country as the Defence Minister of India. Hence is a worthy candidate".

Here it is to be noted that the newly inducted CM, Sawant, who is considered to be the closest aide of late Parrikar will take the final decision. Hailing the decision, BJP leader and spokesperson,  Shaina NC said, "I think it is a fitting tribute to a man who tried to keep the interests of the common man both at a state and national level. He has inspired the common man in so many ways." The decision is yet to be formally conveyed to the allies which the government hopes they will wholeheartedly support.
