Panaji: CM Pramod Sawant of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -led the state of Goa is currently reading Quran and Bible. This information was given by CM Sawant himself while addressing the Eid-e-Milad-Un-Nabi function held in his assembly constituency Sankleim on Sunday evening.

They have said that they are reading the Quran translated into Hindi, which they have received as a gift. Expressing his eagerness to read the Quran, CM Pramod Sawant said that I wanted to know what is written in it. A copy of the Quran translated into Hindi was sought from an acquaintance. He further said that till now I have read only a few chapters. Some parts of the Bible have also been read. I have already read Srimad Bhagavad Gita. CM Sawant said that in Quran man is said to be superior to all living beings. Neither the Quran or the Bible nor the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita gives the message of defaming or insulting other religions.

He said that the Quran says that our religion is the best, but at the same time it has also been said that other religions should also be respected. CM Sawant said that the state government did not discriminate on the basis of the community. Uniform Civil Code is in force in the state. All plans are open to all. He said that the government does not believe in discrimination.
