PANAJI: The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) related works must be finished by all concerned government ministries by November 15, said Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

Sawant said, all departments, including the Public Works Department, police department, and others, have been urged to finish the necessary work as early as possible because the 53rd edition of IFFI will begin on November 20.

He called a meeting to evaluate the situation with these departments and gave them a deadline by which they were to complete the International Film Festival of India-related tasks.

The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) preparations will be reviewed at a meeting on November 7, said the chief minister.

Inviting guests and other matters were being finalised, the Chief Minsiter said. "Anurag Thakur, the minister of information and broadcasting, is also getting feedback from the relevant agencies. This IFFI edition will be celebrated with more zeal in the wake of the COVID pandemic" he added.

The inaugural Goa edition of the 1952-founded International Film Festival of India (IFFI) took place in 2004. Since Goa was designated as the festival's permanent location in 2014, the event has found a home in the coastal state.
