New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Goa on Sunday to attend the Goa Liberation Day celebrations at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Taleigao, Goa, at around 3 p.m., according to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). According to the Prime Minister's Office, the Prime Minister will attend the function to honour the freedom fighters and veterans of 'Operation Vijay.'

Every year on December 19, Goa Liberation Day commemorates the success of the Indian Armed Forces' 'Operation Vijay,' which liberated Goa from Portuguese rule.

The Prime Minister will lay the groundwork for a number of development projects, including the renovated Fort Aguada Jail Museum, the Super Speciality Block at Goa Medical College, the New South Goa District Hospital, the Aviation Skill Development Center at Mopa Airport, and the Gas-insulated Substation at Dabolim-Navelim in Margao. He will also lay the foundation for the Bar Council of India Trust's India International University of Legal Education and Research in Goa.

The Prime Minister has made a concerted effort to improve medical infrastructure and provide world-class medical facilities throughout the country. In accordance with this vision, the Super Speciality Block at Goa Medical College and Hospital was built at a cost of more than Rs. 380 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana scheme.

It is the only state-of-the-art super specialty hospital in Goa, offering high-end super specialty services. It will offer specialised services such as angioplasty, bypass surgery, liver transplantation, kidney transplantation, dialysis, and so on. A 1000 LPM PSA plant installed under PM-CARES will also be housed in the Super Speciality Block.
