PANAJI: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha remarked on Saturday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is bragging about work and initiatives done by the Congress in the past, using the metaphor of "old wine in a new bottle."
Sardinha noted that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi contributed not only to the nation, but also to Goa, when paying respect to him on his death anniversary in Panaji. Former Goa Chief Minister Sardinha said, "He helped us get statehood."
Rajiv Gandhi, he claimed, was responsible for the nation's IT revolution as well as panchayat reservations. "Other world leaders praised him for his work. However, the BJP is now displaying "old wine in new bottles" to demonstrate that they have accomplished everything. They have merely changed the names of the schemes, Sardinha remarked.
