Goa NSUI urges Central Government to postpone NEET and JEE

Panaji: Opposition to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) exams has been increasing rapidly throughout the country. Now the National Students Union of Goa (NSUI) unit has requested the government to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) amidst the growing Corona Cases in India. Earlier on Tuesday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said that JEE (Main) and NEET (UG) exams will be conducted on the previously announced dates.

It was announced that JEE (Main) will be held from September 1 to September 6 and NEET (UG) will be held on September 13 after the Supreme Court rejects the petition to suspend NEET and JEE. NSUI Goa said that "The number of cases is increasing. At a time when Corona cases are increasing daily, classes are taking place online and there is a medical emergency during in our country, the government cannot expect students to answer the examinations by visiting the exam centre".

"It was said that conducting the exam would be a waste of time as many students are already suffering from Corona and cannot give their exams. At such a time, we have again requested the government to cancel all the exams, the candidates of NEET and JEE are generally under eighteen years of age and are the future of India. Asking them to give the will put the entire nation at health risk and put their future at stake".
