Panaji: The results of the district panchayat elections in Goa are scheduled to be declared today. In such a situation, you will be aware that counting of votes has started at 15 notified centres across the state. In fact, in Goa, the district panchayat elections were held in 48 constituencies on Saturday. During this period, the state saw 56.82 per cent voting. On the other hand, if Goa State Election Commission (SEC) followed, then it was 58.43 per cent in North Goa district and 55 per cent in South Goa district.

Let us also tell you that more than four lakh voters, of which 2,27,916 males and 2,21,972 females exercised their franchise. Apart from this, it is also said that about 8 lakh people - 85,222 males and 4,06,592 females - were eligible to vote. Let us tell you that 200 candidates are going to be decided in these elections. The COVID-19 epidemic started in March this year and the district panchayat elections were the first major elections since then in the coastal state.

Indeed, the state had also allowed COVID-19 positive people to vote in the last hour of voting wearing full PPE gear. Let us also tell you that Goa has a total of 50 Zilla Panchayat seats but only 48 have been elected. Indeed, voting in Navelim seat in South Goa was cancelled due to the death of one candidate, while in Sanchole, the BJP candidate won unopposed.
