THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Swapna Suresh, the lead accused in the famed gold smuggling case, has been summoned to appear before Enforcement Directorate officers in Kochi on Wednesday, following new revelations by the prime accused.

Swapna responded to the new developments by saying she had yet to get the summons due to technical difficulties with her email. "Of course, if they've already sent it, I'll gladly assist them. I reacted because he (Sivasankar) had portraited me in such a negative light, and as a result, I told the truth. The future looks dismal to me "Swapna stated.

M. Sivasankar, the then-principal secretary to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, said in an autobiography published last week that he "never did any favour to Swapna" and that he "never realised the iPhone she gave him was part of a bribe."

Angry at this assertion, Swapna retorted, "It was Sivasankar who destroyed her life, and he also knew everything she knew." She further mentioned that he had told her that he would take voluntary retirement and relocate to the UAE to be with her.
