Asia Cup 2022: Good news for Team India ahead of Indo-Pak clash

Team India will start their campaign in the Asia Cup 2022 against arch-rivals Pakistan today i.e. on August 28. Before this great match, there is a piece of good news for Indian fans. Team India's head coach Rahul Dravid has joined the team after defeating the Coronavirus. When the Indian team left for UAE on August 23, Rahul Dravid was not part of the Indian contingent.  

Dravid tested positive for COVID-19 on the 21st of August. VVS Laxman was appointed interim coach by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the head coach tested positive. After Rahul Dravid joined the team, it is understood that Laxman will return to India. According to the report, Rahul Dravid was likely to reach UAE on Saturday, August 27. Dravid will be part of the Indian dressing room during the match against Pakistan, while interim coach VVS Laxman will leave for India.   

On August 23, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a press release that, "Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for covid-19 in a routine test before the team's departure to the UAE for the Asia Cup 2022. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI medical team and has mild symptoms. Once the negative COVID-19 report comes, he will join the team. Team India will assemble in the United Arab Emirates on August 23, 2022.''
