Chandigarh: Good news for women workers working in mid-day meals. Punjab Government has decided to provide maternity leave to mid-day meal employees under the Maternity Benefit Act. The government has stipulated that all necessary guidelines issued from the state or the centre will be required to be adhered to. At the same time, education Minister Vijay Inder Singla said that a mid-day meal is a full government fund based scheme. Due to this scheme, all women workers will be entitled to avail of the profit of maternity leave. Even though the government has given permission, the profit-making employees must adhere to the guidelines issued by the centre of the state government at the moment in this regard.

He also informed that in addition to teaching students through modern education techniques and renovation of infrastructure, 6000 government schools have been converted into smart schools. During the spread of the corona epidemic, teachers from government schools are taking online classes of students with internet support. The school Education Department is also telecasting classrooms with the help of other TV channels including Doordarshan. With this, all arrangements will be done.

On the other hand, the figure for deaths from COVID-19 virus in the state is increasing rapidly. 70 people lost their lives because of the corona On Monday.  With this, the death toll from the virus in the diocese has gone up to 2424 so far. In addition, 2496 new cases have also been reported. So far 82113 people have been infected by corona in the state. At the same time, corona cases in the state are continuously increasing.
