Madhya Pradesh:  The long-pending weekly off system in the Police Department will be implemented in the State, , benefiting about 56,000 police personnel deployed in the field in the state .  Very soon, policemen in the state will get a weekly off. Home Minister Narottam Mishra has given this information on social media through twitter.

He said that the government will come up with a formal proposal in this regard in the next session of the assembly. He further wrote - Police personnel should also get weekly leave to take care of their health and family. Police set an example of service during the lockdown at Corona's Convent. When the people were imprisoned in their homes in fear of Corona, the police personnel were sweating under the open sky, regardless of the summer season. Their services were beyond the call of duty.

Sources said that out of about 56,000 police personnel deployed in the field in the state, a staff of 8000 will be on weekly off daily. Around 650 policemen posted at Bhopal will be on daily leave. That will require additional 8000 police personnel in the state. Although the recruitment process of 4000 police personnel has started in the state. This will reduce the pressure on the police force to a great extent. It is also being considered by the Police Headquarters on how compensation can be arranged for police employees who do not use leave in emergency situations.

in January 2018, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had said that giving weekly leave to police personnel would be seriously considered. This arrangement was also introduced in some police stations but had to be closed due to lack of force.
