NEW DELHI: Facing a tough competition from Artificial Intelligence-powered Microsoft Bing, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced to unlock the full potential of Artificial Intelligenceinto its Search engine.
Pichai said the company will unlock "entirely new experiences in Search and beyond" just as camera, voice, and translation capabilities have all made entirely new categories of searches and exploration possible.
During the company's March quarter earnings call, Pichai stated, "We have been focused on making Search even more helpful for years. From Google Lens to multi-Search to visual exploration in Search, immersive view in Maps, Google Translate, to all the language models powering Search today, we have used AI to open up access to knowledge in powerful ways.
He said that the business will test and iterate "as we go because we know that billions of people trust Google to provide the right information" informed by data and years of experience on what customers want.
Google unveiled Bard, an experimental conversational AI service, in March.
It has since added its "Pathways Language" model to make it even more powerful and Bard can now help people with programming and software development tasks, including code generation, and lots more to come, said Pichai. Along with its new MakerSuite product, the company has made PaLM API available to developers.
"We are honoured to have top-tier research groups working to further the innovations underlying this new era of AI. The Brain Team in Google Research and DeepMind are being combined into one team, as I announced last week', the Google CEO said.
