NEW DELHI: Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai has set up a team to assist the company in developing more capable Artificial Intelligence systems in a responsible and safe manner.
The Brain team from Google Research and DeepMind will join forces to form this organisation, which will be known as "Google DeepMind."
AlphaGo, Transformers, word2vec, WaveNet, AlphaFold, sequence-to-sequence models, distillation, deep reinforcement learning, and distributed systems and software frameworks like TensorFlow and JAX for expressing, training, and deploying large-scale ML models are just a few examples of their collective accomplishments in Artificial Intelligence over the last ten years,said Pichai in a blog post published late on Thursday.
Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, will oversee the creation of the most capable and ethical general AI systems, which will power the company's upcoming line of goods and services.
"Reporting to me, Jeff Dean will assume the higher position of Google's Chief Scientist. He will work for Google Research and Google DeepMind in that capacity, Pichai said Many of Google's major products, including Search, YouTube, Gmail, and the camera in Pixel phones, have been improved using Artificial Intelligence.
"We've demonstrated Artificial Intelligence's ability to address societal concerns like health and climate change and we've assisted developers and businesses in harnessing the power of AI through Google Cloud, he said
Google is also planning to launch a new AI-powered Search next month, with more capabilities coming this autumn, as Microsoft takes the lead with AI-powered Bing Search and ChatGPT.
As oper the New York Times, the new functionalities would first be made available to little more than one million users in the US. The company's intentions are a component of efforts to counter the danger posed by OpenAI's ChatGPT and Microsoft's Bing chatbot.
