On Friday, a Google Doodle celebrated the beginning of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022 at Bay Oval Stadium in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. On Friday morning, the 12th edition of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup got underway, with West Indies defeating hosts New Zealand by 3 runs.Six female cricketers were seen in the Google Doodle playing the game in front of an audience.

The doodle has also been given some effects by Google. When you click on the doodle representing the Women's Cricket World Cup, red cricket balls move from left to right on your screen.  At the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022, eight women's teams will compete. The tournament included Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa, India, and Bangladesh in an eight-team round-robin format. Six venues in New Zealand will host the 50-over matches.

The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup was supposed to take place in early 2021. It was delayed because to travel restrictions amid the Covid-19 pandemic. As Covid-19 continues to loom as a continual threat all through the tournament, extraordinary contingency measures have been put in place to ensure that matches can go on as planned.
