USA: In response to OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google has finally made available its AI-powered chatbot Bard. According to the tech giant, the new chatbot will initially only support a handful of users in the US and UK, but it will eventually support more users, countries and languages.

Bard is currently a standalone webpage for brief face-to-face conversations, rather than integrated with Google's search engine.

After being introduced last month, a factual error caused Bard to undergo extensive training. Google said that after testing Bard, it "learned a lot and the next important step in improving it is to get feedback from more people."

Bard can "boost your productivity, speed up your thoughts and pique your curiosity," according to Tech Giant. A "lightweight and optimized" version of LaMDA, a large research language model, powers Google Bard, an AI chatbot (LLM). according to google.

Bard will be updated over time with newer, more capable models, much like ChatGPT, a rival service that recently received a new LLM called GPT-4. For the time being, at least, Bard is advertised as an addition to Google Search.

Google acknowledges that Bard is still "an experiment" and has its own flaws that relate to LLM. Due to the fact that LLMs "learn from a wide range of information that reflects real-world biases and stereotypes that sometimes show up in their output," Google stressed. "And they may confidently present false, misleading or inaccurate information."
