The Government has declared Goldy Brar, a known gangster, as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). This announcement came via a notification from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday. Brar has been linked with the banned organization Babbar Khalsa International, notorious for its anti-India activities. His involvement in the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala brought him into the focus of Indian agencies.

According to Praveen Vashista, Additional Secretary of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Brar, also known as Satwinder Singh or Satinderjit Singh, currently resides in Brampton, Canada, and has ties with Babbar Khalsa International. The organization is classified as a terrorist group.

The notification highlighted Brar's affiliation with a cross-border agency, alleging his role in multiple killings and espousing radical ideologies. He was accused of making threatening calls to pro-nationalist leaders, extorting money, and boasting about the killings on various social media platforms. Brar was allegedly involved in smuggling high-grade weapons, ammunition, and explosives using drones from across the border. He's suspected of supplying these materials for carrying out assassinations and providing support to sharpshooters.

The Central Government accused Brar and his associates of scheming to disrupt Punjab's peace, communal harmony, and law and order. Their alleged plans included sabotage, creating terror modules, executing targeted killings, and engaging in anti-national activities. Interpol Secretariat General (IPSG), Lyon, France, issued a Red Corner Notice against Brar, with a non-bailable warrant dated December 12, 2022. Additionally, a Look Out Circular was issued on June 15, 2022.

The government's stance is that Goldy Brar's involvement in terrorism warrants his addition as a terrorist under the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA.
