Government gives gift to SC and ST youth regarding backlog posts

The Ashok Gehlot government of the Congress-ruled state of Rajasthan has become active in meeting the quota for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) reservation. The government has instructed the departments to fill the backlog posts reserved for SC and ST category in government departments. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary of Personnel Department Roli Singh has issued a circular in this regard.

Strict guidelines have been given to the departments who have been negligent in filling the backlog posts in the circular. In the circular that some departments are not taking care in filling backlog posts in a time-bound manner. State Public Service Commission and State Staff Selection Board, compute as per rules and fill the vacant posts. Fill the backlog posts on the basis of clear record of recruitment board and agency vacancies.

On this matter, he said in his circular that the backlog vacant posts of SC and ST will be treated as separate and distinct groups. They will not be counted in the fixed 50% limit of reservation of total vacancies occurring in the year in which they are being filled. The records of vacancies that are filled should be kept and the backlog vacancies of SC and ST should be calculated according to the rules. According to the rules, action should be taken to fill that backlog as quickly as possible. Backlog vacancies in direct recruitment and promotion will be considered as a separate and distinct group. The year in which these posts are being filled will not be counted in determining the 50% limit of reservation for the total vacancies occurring in that year.
