Ranchi: There have been incidents of government schools in Jharkhand changing the weekly off day and the prayer system by adding Urdu words at the local level. Considering the seriousness of the same matter, the Hemant Soren government has now taken a big step. The Jharkhand Primary Education Department has ordered the removal of the word 'Urdu' from schools which are not notified as Urdu schools. The department has also ordered that the weekly off of such schools should be on Sundays and not on Fridays. The order also states that in non-Urdu schools, morning prayers should be kept as before.

The order said that in every district of the state, there have been reports of local schools which are not notified as Urdu schools at the local level to add the word 'Urd' to Friday instead of Sunday, the conduct of mid-day meal and change in the pre-prayer system. In view of the seriousness of the matter, some guidelines have been issued by the Government.

What are the guidelines?

1- Except for the established Urdu school, the schools in which the word Urdu was added. The Urdu word should be removed from the name of that school immediately.

2- Weekly off should be ensured only on Sunday instead of Friday except for notified Urdu schools and mid-day meals should not be conducted on Sunday.

3- Under no circumstances should any kind of educational activity be carried out on Sundays in the non-notified Urdu schools.

4- It may also be decided that prayers should be conducted in non-notified Urdu schools as per the earlier system.
