Mumbai: The Maharashtra government today approved an ACB probe against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh on Thursday. In fact, Parambir Singh is alleged to have demanded a bribe of Rs 2 crore in lieu of reinstating suspended police officer Anup Dange while he was commissioner. Yes, police officer Anup Dange had alleged that he was contacted by a man who described himself as a relative of Parambir Singh.

Anup Dange had said that the man had asked him for Rs 2 crore for restoration in Mumbai police. He also said that Param Bir Singh has contacts with criminals. A preliminary investigation into the case revealed the truth in the allegations made by Dange and its ACB sought approval from the state government to initiate an inquiry into the matter. Let us also tell you that an FIR has already been lodged against Param Bir Singh for irregularities in his tenure while holding the post of Thane Police Commissioner.

In fact, Param Bir Singh has also been made a witness in the Antilia case and Mansukh Hiren's death. Let me tell you that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have also filed Param Bir Singh's statement in the corruption and money laundering cases against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
