New Delhi: With the upcoming G20 summit scheduled to take place in Delhi, India's civil aviation ministry is actively engaging in discussions with stakeholders to shift grounded aircraft from Delhi airport to nearby airports.

The decision to relocate these aircraft arises from the need to accommodate the heads of state of the G20 countries and invited nations, who will be attending the summit. This requires ample parking space for their special aircraft during the event.

The G20 summit in Delhi has drawn significant attention, as dignitaries from across the globe will converge for critical discussions on global economic matters.

In response to the parking space concerns at Delhi airport, the civil aviation ministry, along with security agencies and the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), has recognized the urgency of creating adequate parking facilities for the special aircraft.

According to official statements, "The matter has been communicated to multiple relevant parties, including the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), and other aviation stakeholders."

Currently, approximately 70-80 aircraft are parked at Delhi airport due to various reasons, such as engine replacements, technical issues, and bankruptcy cases. Some of these aircraft belong to GoFirst, SpiceJet, Jet Airways, and other private jet operators.

In response to security agency directives, both the ministry and airline operators are expediting the process of shifting the grounded planes to alternate locations as quickly as possible.

The confirmation on the availability of an adequate number of parking slots for the special aircraft now rests with Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL). Their response will play a vital role in ensuring a smooth and successful G20 summit in the nation's capital.
